Four Forces
There are four different forces. One of those forces is applied force. The abbreviation of applied force is Fapp. Applied force happens through contact and it is a push or pull that occurs by a person or thing. For example, if I am playing toy cars with my nephew and we want to race the cars to see who goes faster, we have to apply force in order for the car to start moving. To see who wins, it depends on how much force you applied to the car in the first place. Another one of those forces is gravitational force. Gravitational force is the force that occurs without contact. Its abbreviation is Fg. Gravitational force is a force attracting two objects, (one object is normally earth.) An example of gravitational force is exactly what happens everyday. In order for us to stay on the ground, there has to be a gravitational force attracting you and earth. For everybody its different because not everybody weighs the same so not everybody requires the same amount of gravity pulling on them. In addition to the four forces, the third one is normal force. The abbreviation for normal force is F(N) - the N is smaller-. Normal force requires contact and it is a force from a surface. For example, if you have a box on a table. The normal force is pushing up as the box remains on the table. The last force is tension force. The abbreviation is F(T) - again the T is smaller-. Tension force requires contact and it is a force that pulls. For example, say I have a toy car and I put a rope around it. I make it move by pulling the string.
