Distance Vs Displacement
Distance is the total stride traveled. Displacement is the difference from where your start location is to your end location. In distance, you have to add the lengths you have traveled to get the total stride and in displacement, you have to subtract the lengths to get your displacement. An example of displacement is: when i was going to class, i had to go about 3 meters North then 2 meters West. I accidentally went 4 meters West. My displacement was 2 meters West. An example of distance is: when i was going to my 5th block class and i traveled 2 meters North then stopped to say hi to my friend and then continued another 2 meters North to to get to my class. My distance was 4 meters.

Luckily, in our class, we only have to deal with back and forth in one direction (north and south OR east and west), not both!
